Describe the function
State whether the finish is needed for cleanability, corrosion-control processing, visible appearance or later fabrication. Different outcomes can use similar informal language.
Use a measurable reference
Where appearance matters, identify grit sequence, directional requirement, reference sample or agreed acceptance area. Where process performance matters, state the technical acceptance criterion.
Protect the agreed surface
Tell the supplier which faces are visible, whether protective film is required, and what packaging or handling controls apply after finishing.
